ART
Artist Rachelle Puccini spans the gamut of mediums. Living her life as a violinist, she has been trained in ballet and has been a visual artist all her life. As an artist she has traveled the world performing, collecting and experiencing works from around the globe. Her latest work is a fusion of her experiences as she creates large scale works on pointe shoes using ballet technique to paint on canvas. The concept behind this process is to capture the specific movement in a fleeting moment. Each work is unique and specific to when it was captured. There are no wrong moments.
I am drawn to this process because it can be so different from studying the violin where we work tirelessly in the practice room to perfect one moment on stage that, unless recorded, will not be heard again. Here in these works I can immerse myself in the concept of accepting and admiring the moment, for whatever it was, and be fulfilled. It is my hope that these large scale works evoke a feeling of peace and alignment.

“solo”
“solo” was done en pointe while executing bourrées across the canvas. It is done in black on white canvas. The result is a little lonely but an effective depiction of the vulnerability of being a soloist on stage in any capacity.

“Both“ Is large piece showing work on both legs on one canvas. Tendu’s and plié’s were executed en croix many times to spread the paint.
I love to see the differences from both sides of the body making the same motions. We are not perfect; the paint will never set the same way each time, the foot will have different weight and direction on the page, and even after careful and meticulous practice, two strokes from the same body will never be exactly the same. In an age where technology takes us to new levels of perfection, I am reminded that it is the human element, the imperfection, the asymmetry, that makes the experience so much more fulfilling.
Acrylic on canvas 62.5”x57.5”
Local purchase will render the work stretched. If shipped, piece will be unmounted and rolled. Additional cost to ship will be arranged with buyer.
*Normal variations or marks on the canvas are natural to the process of being “danced on.”
A new work in blue. Dark and indigo blues mix to create texture and interest. Done in the same style as my popular works “solo” and “many passes.”
